Lake City- The Lake City Police Department charged 20-year-old Savonte Edwards with battery domestic violence on Monday night.

The vitcim, who is the suspect's wife, told police that she met her husband at a local Public Shopping Center to talk to him when they started arguing about a former relationship she had with someone else. According to victim's statments to police, the suspect pushed and hit her and then fled the scene in his vehicle.

The charges were forwarded to the State's Attorney Office for further processing.
