Employee Steals Over $1,000 from Local Business

Lake City - Officer Cherum Russell responded to a walk-in complaint in reference to an alleged theft. Upon arrival, the JC Penney Loss Prevention Manager said that an employee named Jenna Payne had been stealing money from the business.
The Loss Prevention Manager stated that between July 4, 2009 and
Sept. 6, 2009, Payne had stolen money from JC Penney on nine
different occasions. The Loss Prevention Manager stated that Payne
admitted to him that she did take the money while working at the business.
The Loss Prevention Manager filed a Complaint Affidavit on Payne for
Grand Theft, and the Complaint Affidavit will be forwarded to the State’s
Attorney Office for further processing. Payne was not located at the time this complaint was filed
