Home and Car Burglar Arrested on Numerous Charges
Marion County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to multiple home and vehicle burglaries in Micanopy early Monday morning.
A victim was able to give deputies a description of the suspect including an orange ball cap, according to authorities. A suspect matching the description was later seen riding a bike in the area.
Durrell Powell, 23, was taken to the Sheriff’s Office North District for questioning and arrested.
According to the investigation, Powell had entered at least three homes and two vehicles while the victims slept and stole money, tobacco products and a .22 caliber rifle. In addition to the physical description, the suspect was also identified by shoe and bicycle tire impressions.
Some of Powell's charges include armed burglary, grand theft and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Additional charges are pending.
