Main Street Construction Begins Tuesday
Published September 8th, 2009
A six million dollar project that will eventually narrow main street into two lanes began Tuesday. The construction will reduce north and southbound traffic into one lane. The project will fix damaged sidewalks and add wheelchair accessible ramps and new traffic signals on the west side of the street. On the east side, a layer of bricks from Main Street and old asphalt will be removed. The project is supposed to make Main Street more pedestrian-friendly with two lanes of traffic, a turn lane and a bicycle lane. It's expected to take two years to complete.
