Man Approaches Girl Near Oak View Middle School
A 13 year old Oak View Middle School student says she was approached by a man she didn't know when walking home from school Monday. Alachua Sheriff's Office say the man drove up to her and made sexual comments. She walked away and was unharmed in the incident; but parents in the area are being notified.
ASO Lieutenant Steve Maynard says "Young children should never, ever be unsupervised walking home from a bus stop or to a bus stop for that matter or waiting at a bus stop. It's simply not advisable in this day and age."
Deputies are looking for a small 4door white sedan. A black male was driving the car, he is described to be in his mid-40s with gray hair and a thin beard.
Students who live in the west part of the county will take home a letter outlining what happened in addition to some crime prevention tips for students and parents.
