A fight over a woman outside a Motel 6 early this morning ended up injuring two men when one of them pulled out a gun.
According to police, a man and a woman were walking into the Motel 6 near I-75 and Archer Road last night when two suspicious men pulled up alongside them in a car. The two men apparently wanted to fight over the women.
One of the men inside the car, 20 year-old Michael Rutledge, exited the car holding a gun. The man walking into the motel and Rutledge began to struggle over the gun, at which point the gun was accidentally fired. The bullet went through Rutledge's hand and into the victim's leg.
Rutledge was arrested at the scene. The victim is currently undergoing surgery on his leg at Shands Hospital.
