New Shands Cancer Hospital

The brand new Shands Cancer Hospital officially opened its doors Tuesday. The 500,000 square foot facility cost 390 million dollars and took 30 months to build. Standing eight stories high, the facility houses 192 beds, 48 ICU beds, 12 operating rooms and numerous wings such as the trauma center, emergency and radiology departments. A full staff was integrated from Shands AGH and Shands at UF. Shands Cancer Hospital will start to move patients over beginning Nov. 1.
