Hundreds flocked to the mall this weekend to make purchases, but some stores learned the hard way when the banks called them on Monday to tell them some of the money deposited was fake. Gainesville Police confirmed that one store at the Oaks Mall filed a police report, where counterfeit money had been passed off. One retail store may have to give up their own money to pay the bank back. Now stores are taking precautions and not accepting large bills. Police urge retailers to call them and file a report should they have issues with counterfeit money.
