Local Pizza Shop Closes for Health Violations
A local pizza joint had to shut its doors for some time today after state inspectors cited numerous critical violations. Inspectors found more than ten live roaches at Gumby's Diner off Southwest 34th Street. And according to the report dead roaches were also found under ice machine, at soda machine and in sanitizer washer.
In addition, inspectors observed build up of slime in the interior of the ice machine. This wasn't the first time they found cited Gumby's for that. Inspectors also observed clean utensils and equipment stored in dirty drawers, racks, vestibules and toilet rooms.
The owner, Jeff O'Brien, said, “We took care of the problem and had pest control come out. We just needed to cross our t's and dot our i's. It's not an infestation problem” about the roaches. Gumby's was re-inspected after and opened back up for business around 1pm.
