All farmers have to deal with the problem of getting rid of animal waste and now they have some options to waste nothing on the farm. Jose Sifontes of the University of Florida has developed a way to turn cow pies into energy. All the waste from animals is loaded in a cage. The cage is put in an iron tank for three weeks. During that time it decays releasing methane which can be stored and used for generators and gas grills. After the time is up the waste becomes an odorless peat substance and bio-fertilizer. Funding for the facility came from Florida's "Farm to Fuel" grant.
