Dog with Gainesville Ties Competes in Westminster Dog Show
The 134th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show brings together hundreds of champion dogs from across the country and the world. For one woman who works in Gainesville, her first trip to Westminster proved to be a memorable one.
Joann Stamm works in the payroll department at the University of Florida. She's been breeding Cocker Spaniels for more than a decade and one of her dogs, Luke, got invited to compete in the Westminster Dog Show. He competed against two other cocker spaniels in the "A.S.C.O.B" category. standing for "any solid color other than black." Luke won "Best of Breed" honors.
"I got a lot of phone calls, a lot of text messages after the group took place," said Stamm. "A lot of people commented on how nice he looked on TV."
Stamm said Luke was the number one Cocker Spaniel in breed points for 2009.
