Ocala Athlete Heading To Winter Olympics
With the start of the winter Olympics just a week away, athletes are gearing up... and so are fans.
Here in Florida, winter sports might only consist of wearing gloves while golfing.
But there might be more fans in the Sunshine State this year...because an Olympic athlete-- Caydee Denney-- is from our area... and her sport is unusual, considering she's coming from Florida.
Caydee Denney... who's from Ocala... and her partner Jeremy Barrett are the 2010 U.S. pair skating champions and they'll be competing in the Olympics in Vancouver...something 16-year-old Denney says feels unbelievable.
But growing up in Ocala, she was no stranger to skates...she used to be a roller figure skater--something you're more likely to see in Florida...until she switched to ice to chase her dream of going to the Olympics.
Denney... and the other skaters... will perform February 14 and 15.
