Voter Registration Comes To A Close
Many Floridians proudly cast their ballots each presidential election but it's the local races that directly impact our day to day lives.
As Gainesville mayor Pegeen Hanrahan serves her last few days in office, five candidates are campaigning for her spot.
Ozzy Angulo, Monica Leadon Cooper, Craig Lowe, Don Marsh and Richard Selwich are all vying for the title, and five additional candidates have run for the District 4 spot on the City Commission.
Monday at 5pm, voter registration for the March 16th City election closed, but unlike the days before a presidential election, there wasn't a mad rush to register to vote.
Supervisor of Elections Pam Carpenter says that doesn't mean the local election is any less important.
