Free Sandbags Available To Marion Residents
The Marion County Sheriff's Office Division of Emergency Management and the Marion County Public Works Department plan to distribute 20,000 sandbags to help people deal with any localized threatening water – as a result of recent steady rainfall. The locations for the sandbag distribution:
* The Dunnellon Public Service Office, 11924 Bostick Street, Dunnellon
* Jervey Gantt Park, 1211 Southeast 22nd Road, Ocala
There is no charge for the sandbags. There is no limit to the number of sandbags you can take to protect a home or business. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office inmate labor crews will be at each location to help fill and load the sandbags. The work crews will be available 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., daily, until further notice. After hours, bags will be available and people can fill the bags with help from family and friends.
