An armed suspect is still on the loose following a violent home invasion in southwest Gainesville.
Alachua County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a home invasion in the Pines Hills Estates after 10:30 Sunday morning. They say the suspect approached a man at a house off of NW 112 Terrace and hit him in the head with a handgun. The suspect then entered the home and demanded money from a female inside.
Deputies say he left with nothing...law enforcement set up a 2 mile perimeter, but didn't catch him. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.
Deputies say the suspect is a black male, is between 180-200 pounds, and is wearing dark-colored clothes and is armed with a dark handgun.
