One person is hospitalized after a suspect shot him Thursday night at the Sherwood Apartments in Gainesville.

According to the Gainesville Police Department, the victim opened his door to two people who knocked on the door. The individuals pushed open the door and in the struggle, the resident got shot.

Police say this incident is most likely drug-related after drugs were found in the apartment. Police say they believe this is not a random robbery case.

"The victim was able to provide us a little bit of information last night that we are following up on today," Captain Ed Book said. "We are going to re-interview the victim today and we also believe we are going to show some known suspects and pictures to the victim and hopefully that will help us flesh out who the suspects are."
