Marion County Animal Service Needs Help
Marion county animal services need your help. They have confiscated hundreds of animals from a resident of Reddick in what they are calling one of the worst cases of animal hoarding in Marion County history. Several hundred dead animals were found along with several hundred live ones. Now those animals are filling the animal services facility with bird cages in the hallways and multiple dogs in cages. In normal circumstances animal services can handle the influx of new pets but they are in need of some donations and help from the community. Some of the items they need include:
-Bird Cages with wheels
-Heat Lamps
-Perches for Cages
-Turtle & Rabbit Food
-Coastal Hay
-Pressure Washer
-Stainless Steel Bird Bowls
-Bird Food
-Live Crickets
-Timothy Alfalfa
You can't adopt the animals just yet. They will be available in about a month. If you would like to volunteer or adopt some of the pets, call Animal Services at (352) 671-8700. Animal services will seek charges against the owner, Ignacio Dulzaides, for animal cruelty and neglect. The case will be presented to the state attorney next week.
