Accused Child Porn Trafficker In Court
An accused child porn trafficker made his first appearance in court today, according to federal court documents.
Arthur Brent Stanley, also known as Stanley Yates, is charged with possessing and trafficking child porn, according to the probable cause affidavit. Agents with the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency say they found child porn files on a computer taken from "Crocodile Creek Signs" at the Waldo Flea Market, where Stanley works. Also according to the affidavit, Stanley, who area residents say lives near the flea market in Waldo, distributed child porn images using a file sharing program.
Not everyone believes the charges though. One man, who wanted to remain anonymous except to say that he's a friend of "Stan Yates" and lives near him, says he doesn't believe a word of what's written in the indictment.
"I don't believe it at all," says the man. "Not absolutely at all. The bottom line is I think it's all fake. Bull."
The man, who admittedly is a registered sex offender, says when federal investigators came knocking on Stanley's door, they came knocking on his too.
"Just you know showing their badge and everything else and hammering me down. You know, why are they doing this to me?"
Arthur Brent Stanley's attorney, Daniel Day, told TV20 in a statement that his client pleaded not guilty today. Day says he has yet to see the evidence the government plans to use at trial, and until then there isn't much he can say about the case.
