Marion County Bomb Scare
What was supposed to be a day in court, turned out to be a hot mess after dozens of people were forced to evacuate the Marion County courthouse in Ocala. Dozens of people waited outside in what felt like a hundred and three degree heat for nearly three hours. Around noon Ocala police received an anonymous call on their non-emergency line from a man who said his brother was upset and filled his trunk with explosives, and was heading to the Marion County courthouse parking garage. Within minutes Ocala police and Marion County sheriff's deputies blocked off traffic around the building as bomb sniffing dogs were called to the scene. As a safety precaution people inside the courthouse were asked to leave. Investigators found five cars matching the description of the vehicle given to police, but found no explosives. Around three o'clock people were allowed back inside to resume court proceedings, and it was up to each judge to either reschedule hearing times or continue court with about a three hour delay.
