Neighborhood Gas Leak

Several gas leaks in northwest Gainesville have put one area neighborhood on high alert. There have been two reported in the backyard at one woman's residence. Evelyn Cairns of Gainesville woke up the morning of August 10th feeling sick, hours later, fire rescue and G-R-U officials showed up to her house because reports of a gas leak. Cairns went back home a few days later only to find some type of steam coming from out of the ground. Cairns called the utilities company immediately. The pipes in the neighborhood date back to 1970. G-R-U estimates the pipes will take at least two to three weeks to replace.
