It's years before they can run for office, or even vote, but some Alachua County students are learning the ins and outs of local government now.
The September Citizen's of the Month from 4th and 5th grade classrooms toured several departments within the City Of Gainesville.
It's part of Florida City Government Week, an event that showcases how local entities operate and run.
The event gives students get a better understanding of the community they live in and possibly a head start on a career in public service.
