Weekend Spotlight
Happy Friday everyone! If you got to go outside today you could tell there was a change in the air. With a break in the lingering high humidity of summer it will be a good weekend to get outside. And there's plenty to do around the area.
The High Springs area is one place where there will be lots to do. The High Springs River Fest will be in full swing this weekend. It celebrates everything in and around the town whether it's the natural environment or the historic downtown area. On Saturday there's things to do all day long....including the fall festival events, a 4 k run, and a river tube race among other things. If you're going Sunday you can check out the sidewalk sales and a singing and songwriting contest. For all the details on times and events go to highspringsriverfest.com for more info. One of the activities you might want to check out is the Pedal Paddle Challenge. It's a non-competitive event. You'll pedal through O'Leno State Park and the River Rise Preserve....and then paddle part of the Santa Fe River. The pedaling part of the trip is 20 plus miles. There will be a family fun option if you're looking for something shorter and less challenging. Registration starts at 8 am on Saturday at the the River Rise Resort. It's located on the east side of highway 441 just north of the Santa Fe River. Your text to link...
The fall weather will be perfect for taking in a fall favorite. The 26th Annual Art Festival at Thornebrook is going on this weekend. And something new this year....a preview party tonight from 6 to 9 pm. Around 130 fine artists and craftsman will be showing off their work. There will be food and music, and kids activities, too. It runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon. Just go to Thornebrook Village, 2441 NW 43rd street in Gainesville. Your text to link...
