Happy Friday everyone! We've had some busy weekends as of late. With the Gators off this week...there'll be plenty of time to take in other activities across north-central Florida. And there's lots to do around our area this weekend.
There's nothing wrong with starting the weekend early....so why not head out to Haile Plantation tonight for Oktoberfest. There will be live music, food, drink, and games for the kids. It runs from five to eleven this evening at the Haile Village Center....5323 SW 91st Terrace in Gainesville. Your text to link...
The small community of McIntosh will be busy this weekend as the folks there host the 1890's Festival. The people of McIntosh have been running the festival since 1974 as a way of raising money to fund projects in the community. You can expect lots of food, arts and crafts, antiques....and music as well. The festival runs Saturday from eight in the morning until five. Just head to downtown McIntosh on highway 441 just south of Micanopy. Your text to link...
Just up the road in Gainesville butterflies will be in the air. The Florida Museum of Natural History is hosting its Butterflyfest this weekend. It's free and if you've never been there you're in for a treat. I've been to the Butterfly Rainforest there a number of times and it really is a first class facility. Butterflyfest runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm and will feature monarch butterfly releases, presentations and workshops....in addition to crafts for the kids. The museum is near the corner of SW 34th Street and Hull Road in Gainesville. Your text to link...
Saturday is the day for the third annual Noche de Gala. It runs from 7 pm to midnight and benefits the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation....which goes to help fund a dedicated pediatric emergency department at Shands. It's taking place at the Besilu Collection, a 642 acre horse farm near Micanopy. Dress is formal. For a detailed map go to the events website....www.nochedegala.org. Your text to link...
While there's no Gator football this weekend you might want to check out rugby! You can go to the North Florida/South Georgia Rugby Cup from 11 in the morning until six on Saturday. It' at Squirrel Ridge Park on Williston Road near SW 13th Street in Gainesville.
