Ocala's International Thoroughbred Apprenticeship
Published January 20th, 2011
Two different places are partnering up in a common business. Ocala and Newbridge, Ireland have joined together in a thoroughbred apprenticeship that is one of only three in the world. The program delivered two participants from Ireland to Reddick to learn how the thoroughbred industry works in North Central Florida. Ocala will send two people to Ireland this summer. This program is with Ocala's "twinning program" with Newbridge, Ireland, which started in 2008. The purpose of the program is to foster economic, cultural, and educational development between the two cities. No taxpayer dollars are used for this program. All of the funds come through fundraisers.
