Tackle Box Closing
Published March 10th, 2011
Another piece of Gainesville history is closing it's doors. The owner of the Tackle Box near Newnans Lake is about to put up the "gone fishing" sign. Today hundreds of people lined up to get a good buy and also begin to say goodbye to a favorite store. After 57 years owner Judy Daemer said they are closing because of the economy and she is ready to have a change of pace. The Tackle Box is the last independent fishing store in Gainesville and customers looking for specialty gear will need to shop out of town. Daemer expects the store to officially close in mid-April or once all the merchandise and everything else is gone.
