Newberry's Nations Park Wants "Wow Factor"
Published June 14th, 2011
They already have a $7 million dollar ball complex in the works, but now they're looking for the "wow factor."
And it it looks like Alachua County Commissioners agree.
Once completed, Nations Park in Newberry is designed to draw players from around the nation to tournaments...pumping an estimated $20 million into the local economy.
As of today, the sixteen field complex can expect about $280 thousand more in amenities than first planned, including stand shades for spectators and extra palm trees.
Commissioners voted to send the request to the Tourism Development Council for review. They will advise the board on whether to allocate bed tax money for the enhancements.
