North Central Florida Dealing With Drought

North Central Florida Dealing With Drought

Published June 10th, 2011

For days dry conditions have made it tough on firefighters trying to get a handle on the flames burning through wildland areas in North Central Florida, but the risk is just as great in more urban neighborhoods.
In fact, the entire state is experiencing dry conditions and in North Central Florida the drought index is between 550 and 650 out of a scale of 800
A lack of major rainfall and an already dry spring linked to La Nina conditions, has caused emergency responders to be extra vigilant when responding to house fires.
Some quick ways to keep your home safe are removing loose branches and clearing out dried debris from rain-gutters.
