Traveling For The Holiday Weekend
Most of us are just hours away form our Fourth of July weekend and several people have the day off on Monday for Independence Day.
Gas prices are nearly a full dollar more this year compared to July of 2010 but despite that, AAA expects about the same number of drivers on the roads.
The travel agency says because gas fell several cents in recent weeks, a lot of people made last minute adjustments to their plans and decided to hit the road.
It currently costs drivers an average of $3.47 a gallon, but in Gainesville prices run closer to $3.55 cents, so fill up outside of town if you can.
Because of the long weekend, Triple A says more people will stay close to home and drive instead of fly, and some make a mini-vacation out of it.
Since more drivers will be traveling than a typical weekend, Florida's Highway Patrol will have extra officers on the road to enforce laws.
