"Mitzvah Day" Jewish Council Gives Back
Published August 14th, 2011
The long days of summer are also hot ones in Gainesville, but that didn't stop one organization from giving back to the community.
The Jewish Council of North Central Florida was out on the streets this Sunday clearing litter along Northwest 8th Avenue in Gainesville.
The council is one of the 55 organizations working through the City of Gainesville's Adopt A Street program. It's all a part of the council's "Mitzvah Day Program." An annual effort to give back to the Gainesville and Ocala communities through service.
