Flu Vaccinations Start for Alachua County Schoolchildren
Published September 26th, 2011
Flu vaccinations started today for many North Central Florida schoolchildren. The Alachua County Health Department visited The Rock School this morning to administer flu mists.
70 percent of children in the county were immunized last year and the program received national attention for its public health vaccination campaign.
The nasal flu mist is designed to help prevent influenza in young people... preventing the spread in the rest of the community. About 100 students got the flu mist today.
Public school immunizations will start in October. Parental consent forms in Alachua County are due by September 30th.
