Local September 11th Commemorative Events
Across North Central Florida there will be several free events offering an opportunity to reflect the tragic September 11th events 10 years ago.
September 9th through 11th:
Field of Flags at Highland Memorial Park, 1515 NE Third Street, Ocala.
Event features nearly 3,000 American flags representing the lost lives, tribute displays and a presentation by a survivor of the attack on the Pentagon Sunday. The memorial park will be open from 8am to 9pm all three days.
Saturday, September 10th
Remembrance Program, Ocala/ Marion County Veterans Park
Event features a salute by active military personnel, veterans, City of Ocala and Marion County officials, and emergency response personnel.
Event begins at 10am.
Sunday September 11th
10th Anniversary Tribute to First Responders
VFW Retirement Home, 13005 NE 135th Street, Fort McCoy.
Event features the Marion County Sheriff Department's Honor Guard and Pipe and Drum Band, Demonstrations by the North Marion High School JROTC, Daughters of the American Revolution, and a performance by Country Singer Stefanie Renae.
Event begins at 2pm. (236-0823)
