Published September 15th, 2011
A local school is being recognized for a national award. Queen of Peace in Gainesville has been recognized as a Blue Ribbon school by the U.S. Department of Education. The school was one of 50 private schools recognized because of their standardized test scores in reading and math. Principal Sister Nancy Elder credits the teachers for the achievment, "They're an excellent faculty, there's nothing that's too great for them, they're willing to try new things, they can come early, and they can stay late. But very, very dedicated to the children." Members of the school will attend a recognition ceremony in Washington D.C. on November 14-15.
