City Of Gainesville Election Deadline
The next City of Gainesville election is still months away, but an important deadline is looming for people interested in running.
This election cycle the district one and at large commission seats are up for grabs.
Candidates can start filing their paperwork now and need to have it processed and completed by November 18th.
To qualify for the district one seat, potential candidates must live in the area that encompasses the Northeast and Southeast areas of town.
The at large seat can be filled by anyone who lives within city limits.
Already eight people have begun the paperwork required to qualify and the supervisor of elections office says voters can begun researching the candidates now.
The city of Gainesville election will coincide with the state's presidential preference primary and will be held on January 31st.
