John Sayles Visits Gainesville

A renown director and writer is spending some time in Gainesville Tuesday night. John Sayles will visit the Hippodrome Theatre downtown for a book reading, question and answer session and movie screening of his new film "Amigo."
Sayles is an icon in the independent film industry and an acclaimed author. And his career history actually lines up closely with the history of the Hippodrome Theatre.
Sayles has been nominated for Academy Awards, Golden Globes and a National Book Award. His movies include "Eight Men Out" and "Matewan." Plus he has co-written films such as "Apollo 13."
