Happy Friday everyone! All sorts of holiday fun around our area this weekend....so lets get right to it.
You can certainly get in a holiday mood tonight. In Levy County, Williston is holding it's Christmas parade and "Light Up Williston" tonight beginning at 6. Your text to link... In downtown Ocala music will be in the air this evening. The Ocala Symphony Orchestra will treat you to some holiday music as "Symphony Under the Lights" takes place at 7 p.m. on the downtown square. Your text to link... In Gainesville, Westside Baptist Church on Newberry Road is hosting its' Gainesville Christmas Festival the next three nights at 6 ....with matinees at 2 Saturday and Sunday. The two and a half hour show features singing, dramatic acting and live animals.
And there's no shortage of fun planned for Saturday. Saturday is "Snow Day" in downtown Lake City. From 9 to 4 you can enjoy some 30 tons of the white stuff, along with bounce houses and music. Santa arrives at 11:45....with the parade beginning at 6 p.m. Your text to link... Back in Alachua County, Hawthorne is celebrating it's 29th Christmas festival. The fun begins in downtown Hawthorne at 11...with a parade in the afternoon. Your text to link... In the City of Alachua, Main Street downtown will be decorated....and will be the place to be to enjoy the city's Christmas parade at 2 Saturday afternoon. Your text to link...
Also Saturday, Danscompany presents it's rendition of Cinderella at the Phillips Center in Gainesville. The full length ballet has been a holiday tradition since 1993. Shows are at 1:30 and 7 p.m. on the UF campus. Your text to link... West of town, our friends in Fanning Springs are hosting their "Festival of Lights" Saturday at the Fanning Springs City Park. There'll be lots of activities...capped off by the lighted boat parade on the Suwannee River just after dark. In Marion County, the Ocala Christmas Parade Your text to link... cranks up at 5:30 Saturday evening on east Silver Springs Boulevard....while a half hour later at 6 High Springs is holding it's Christmas parade downtown. The theme is "Pioneering Days of Christmas". Your text to link...
