Published January 30th, 2012

Alachua County Sheriff's Office released the 911 calls made early Sunday morning in connection to the series of crashes on a smokey stretch of Interstate 75.

The crashes involved nearly two dozen vehicles and left at least ten people dead.

Below are some of the 911 calls made in the first terrifying minutes that morning.

"I think we're on 75...
no I can't see anything.... fog is so dense
we just hit a guardrail
--- we are going southbound on 75,...
oh my gosh it's so dark here...
we just passed Gainesville....
it's very dangerous, please be careful... there's a lot of smoke and fog..."

"Another accident... oh my gosh...
another accident going north bound.. oh my goodness...
and that was a truck...
we cannot see-- impossible to see.
can't see holding your hand in front."

(CRASH)

"Oh my God what is going on...
Oh my goodness...
We cannot see... we cannot see ma'am.
This was the third one already..."

"The other one was also northbound...
Oh oh.. that’s four..
One coming southbound...
He stopped in time...
I would say-- it sounds like trucks... three trucks, three drivers...
and I don’t know the one coming southbound..."

(CRASH)

"Oh my gosh... another one...
Oh my goodness- this is bad..
Ma’am... ma’am... ma’am...
This is the fifth one now..
Five in a row"

(CRYING)
"Tell that lady to get away from her car...
15 so far..."

(SCREAMING)
"16 vehicles...
Go away from your car!
Here comes another one...
There it goes...
That one is a bad one....
oh God."

(SCREAMING)

"Please slow down, please slow down...
They're putting on their lights at least...thank God."

(CRYING)
"Okay...
Oh my God...
Oh my God..."

"I can't really tell, we can't see anything ma'am...
I see a lot of people lying down on the road...
She's dying...
There's some people across the street crying...
Now there's people putting on their lights..."
