Gainesville City Elections
Published January 31st, 2012
The results are in for both Gainesville city commission races. One race has a clear winner, but the other will have to go to a run-off.
In the At Large race, no one candidate earned more than 50 percent of the vote, so Lauren Poe and Nathan Skop will go to a run-off on February 28. Poe had 36 percent of the vote and Skop took 25 percent.
Meanwhile in the District 1 race, the winner is a newcomer to elected politics, democratic executive committee member, Yvonne Rawls. Rawls won with 54 percent of the vote.
