Weekend Planner
Happy Friday everyone! All sorts of things to do this weekend...whether you like 70's rock and roll....or maybe you'd like to step further back in time....to the middle ages, perhaps.
Of course we're talking about the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire, back for it's 26th year. Actors, musicians and street performers will provide a festive atmosphere King Arthur would have enjoyed. You can cheer for your favorite knight's as they joust in full armor and even view a living chess match. And, of course, there's food! The Hoggetowne Medieval Faire is at the Alachua County Fairgrounds, 2900 NE 39th Avenue near the Gainesville Regional Airport. It runs from 10 to 6 Saturday and Sunday for the next two weekends. REO Speedwagon has sold more than 40 million records over the years....with songs like "Take It On The Run" and "Keep On Loving You". You can catch them Saturday afternoon at 3 at Silver Springs just east of Ocala on State Road 40. Your text to link...
Also in Marion County the Ocala Greek Festival is this weekend. It's three days of everything Greek. This is the 12th year of the festival where you can find plenty of Greek food, music and dance. For the kids there'll be face and sand painting, clowns and inflatables. Some of the proceeds go to help several area charities and community programs. The festival runs until 8 tonight, Saturday from 11 to 8 and again on Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. The event is at St. Mark's Greek Orthodox Church located at 9926 SE 36th Avenue in Belleview....just north of Belleview High School.
