Dr. Terry Jones... who continues to lead a small church in Gainesville is well- known for speaking out against the religion of Islam.

     He protested at the University of Florida's campus.

     The magnet was an Islam awareness event.

     TV 20'S Duke Carter joins us.

     Duke... Jones' goal was to demand the immediate release of a pastor held as a prisoner in Iran.

      Jones says Youcef Nadarkhani refused his religion in 2010 and converted to Christianity.

      Now he may be executed for doing so.

      Jones wants America to wake up... and is again degrading Islam.

     These protestors were out trying to get their message across to anyone.

"Stand up America. Stand up America"

"we're trying to bring the true awareness to islam."

   Dove Outreach Pastor Terry Jones protested outside the Reitz Union during the Islam awareness program.

   He says people need to reseach the history Islam.

"where the holy book, you do not see a religion of harmony of peace equal rights."

      UF students were listening to a prayer from the Qur'an before the keynote speaker started talking about Islam and its true meaning.

     Islam on campus president hopes people will understand their religion.

"by having the event and by having all the events we had this month to show people on an individual basis we are kind"

     And hopes the protestors will learn to understand them.

"to you is your religion to me is own and although it makes us sad that some people will have misconstrued views of faith I have to respect that if they're going to be respectful of me I'm going to be respectful of them."

     Jones says he has no problems with Muslims

     He  wants people to do their own research and make their own judgement.

     Meantime the officials with the islam on campus plan to have more  events to inform others about their religion.
