African Celebration at the Library
It was a mixture of traditional African music, storytelling and African American culture at the library... all to celebrate Black History Month.
The group that took the stage is called "Africa 2000" from Gainesville.
When we spoke to the library they said they like to keep their acts local and want to remind everyone of the events they can find right in their back yard.
Senior Library Specialist Nathanial Courtney said, "Pretty much its a blend of African American culture...and it started about four years ago as a way to get the community to see that the library is not just books anymore."
The library will continue to host events throughout February for Black History Month.
Help Paying for College
With the national unemployment rate sitting at 8.3 percent most families are looking for help to pay for college...
Some families found just that with the help of Santa Fe College.
Students were able to apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA.
There were dozens of volunteers on hand to answer any question that students had.
All together about 80 percent of Santa Fe College students receive help to pay for college.
