Happy Friday everyone! Sports, art, and music. Plenty to do around the area this weekend whether you want to be indoors or out.
Inside the Odome tonight the top ranked Gator Gymnasts take on the Gym Dogs from arch rival Georgia. This matchup is always huge....in fact in 18 of the last 20 meetings between the two, one of the teams has been ranked number one going into the meet! You can catch the action tonight at 7 in the O'Connell Center on the UF campus. A free shuttle bus will provide transportation to the event from the commuter lot on Gale Lemerand Drive. Website
If you like art this is a good weekend for you. The 5th Annual Winter Fine Art Fair at Tioga is this weekend. Over 100 artists will be showing off their work. There'll be jewelry, wood work, paintings, and a lot more. Plus there will be music and activity booths for the kids to enjoy. The Art Fair runs until 9 tonight, Saturday from 10 to 6, and Sunday from 10 to 5 at Tioga Town Center, located about 5 minutes west of I-75 on Newberry Road. Website
Silver Springs 2012 Concert Series continues this weekend as country music star Travis Tritt hits the stage. Tritt has made the country charts more than forty times....including five number one hits including "Help Me Hold On", "Anymore", and "Foolish Pride". Seven of his albums are certified platinum. You can catch the Grammy award winning artist at Silver Springs Saturday. Showtime is 3 p.m. Website
Also in Marion County, 60's American singing star Lesley Gore is coming to Ocala. The New York native first hit the pop charts in the 1960's with "Judy's Turn to Cry", "You Don't Own Me", and her 1963 number one hit "It's My Party". (it's my party and i'll cry if I want to....). She recorded that hit when she was 16 years old. Lesley Gore takes to the stage tonight at 7 pm at the Circle Square Cultural Center, 8395 SW 80th Street in Ocala. Website
