Gainesville's Innovation Square is about to be honored for its...innovation.
The American Planning Association announced today that Innovation Square has won its national 2012 "Excellence in Economic Development Planning" award.
A release stated the judges were impressed with the quality of the design...but also with how well the different stakeholders worked together. The University of Florida, Shands hospital, the City of Gainesville, and the Community Redevelopment Agency are all behind Innovation Square.
The award will be presented next month.
