Alan Strattan of Columbia County is getting life so he can avoid death. A Lake City man will serve four consecutive life sentences after he murdered three people, one of them was pregrnant.

On February 3rd, 2011, 27 year old Monica Hudson, 25 year old Nichole Cervantes, 32 year old Michael Tucker-- and Cervantes' unborn child-- were found dead in a home in Lake City.   Alan Strattan's family as well as the victims families were inside the courtroom, listening to Strattan saying he's remorseful.

Some of the victims' family members had to leave because they still didn't believe he feels their pain.

"Only God has a right to choose not you, you are pure evil," one victim's mother told the court in Columbia County.

The victims family members spoke out at today's court room hearing after Alan Strattan entered a plea deal to serve life behind bars.

"If it were so bad in your life why didn't you end your life instead of theirs," Jose Cervantes asked Strattan?

During the court hearing family members tightly held each other's hands as they heard how Cervantes' unborn child didn't survive from a gun shot wound.

"You took mothers and fathers away from babies and didn't give babies a chance to see world," one victim's mother told Strattan.

 State attorney Skip Jarvis says Strattan got into an argument and shot the victims with a 45 caliber handgun

"He then leaves the residence and then remembers the small child in the resident, he goes back into the residence and retrieve the small child and covered her eyes so she could not see," Jarvis explained to the courtroom.

After the state attorney finished explaining what happened,  Strattan went to the stand and said he regretted murdering the victims.

"Not a single moment goes by that I'm haunted by the pain and anguish," Strattan said.

And once Strattan finished... the judge read his sentence, offering sympathy for the family.

"You ruined four lives and you ruined many other lives all these folks out here,"  Judge David Fina said.

After the judge sentenced Strattan, he was finger printed in the courtroom.
