Six People Arrested In Levy County Drug Bust
It's a growing problem in Florida. The Sunshine State has seen a significant rise in pill mill operations and in Levy County deputies arrested six people during a drug raid.
Deputies say three of those arrests were a result of what they call "Dumb Luck."
Bill McNally has been trimming his gras on the property he owns for eight to 10 years, because he's impressed with this area.
"love this area and have high hopes for it in th future" McNally says.
But has had some issues with his property in the past.
"I have had some break ins," He says.
McNally says they're drug related.
"broke into my motor home and stole tv's and things of this sort."
After getting a search warrant, Levy County deputies arrested six people, which includes 46 year old Richard Pearson who they say was dealing and using drugs in his mother's motor home.
"he certainly knows better and I hate to see him throw his life away," McNally says.
Deputies say several people on the property tried to hide or throw their drugs on the ground when they arrived. When Investigators went inside Pearson's home they found Methamphetamine and Oxycodone.
"they're easier ways to go about things they should maybe get involved with church but certainly there's a lot better ways to make a living," McNally said.
While Deputies were on the property, searching people for drugs, an suv pulled into the driveway of the home. Deputies greeted them with a smile and found a bottle of 150 oxycodone pills prescribed that same day, but only 12 were left. Investigators say the driver 34 year old Crystal Fontenot sold 25 Oxycodone pills to another person for 450 dollars.
"we feel real good, we got six people Friday night we have many more, the war on drugs is a continuing effort by law enforcement," Major Evan Sullivan from the Levy County Sheriff's Office said.
But, McNally hopes everyone in the in the small community will pitch in.
"I would encourage any business owners like myself if we could help in anyway to do so," McNally says.
To do anything to cut down on illegal drugs.
Pearson is in the Levy County Jail. Deputies have filed a sworn complaint against Fontenot for selling and distributing a controled substance. She's in the hospital because she claimed to have a medical issue.
