Soldier Leaves for Afghanistan after Home Burns Down
The home of an Army Soldier went up in flames Wednesday night. Not a member of his family was hurt but the home may be a total loss. But it's the timing of the disaster that couldn't have been worse. Army Staff Sergeant Richard Leadingham is being deployed to Afghanistan for his second tour duty. He's leaving Saturday. Leadingham lived in the house with his wife and four of his six children, the youngest being 10 years old. His 15-year-old son is a student at Ocala's Francis Marion Military Academy. His classmates are pitching in to help. Two large containers have been set up to collect goods to go to the family. Donations are being accepted at Francis Marion Military Academy during school hours between 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Francis Marion Military Academy, 2091 NE 35th St., Ocala. A trust has also been established by the Ocala, Silver Springs Rotary Club at SunTrust Bank.
