Happy Friday everyone! Spring usually brings not only warmer weather, but lots of outdoor activities. And this weekend is no exception.
Kanapaha Botanical Gardens is holding its Spring Garden Festival this weekend. This year there'll be around 200 booths...with lots of things for the garden available. There'll be garden accessories, plants and educational displays as well. And plenty of food, too. The festival runs from 9 to 5 Saturday and from 10 to 5 Sunday at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, 4700 S.W. 58th Drive Gainesville. Website
Saturday the University of Florida's Dairy Unit is hosting Family Day at the Dairy Farm. If you've ever wondered how the milk you drink is made, this is for you. The free event will show you how milk is produced locally. You can sample milk and other dairy products, make some butter and even pet a calf. The UF & IFAS Dairy Farm Open House runs from 9 to 2 Saturday at their facility in Hague, north of Gainesville off highway 441. Website
In Ocala, Silver Springs continues it 2012 Concert Series with one of America's music legends. Glen Campbell will be on stage Saturday at the nature park. In Campbell's 45 year country music career he's produced more than 70 albums...including hits like "Rhinestone Cowboy", "Galveston", and "Wichita Lineman". The multi award winning artist will take the stage at Silver Springs Saturday afternoon at 3. Website
In Gainesville this weekend it's time for "Puttin on the Ritz". This is the 25th anniversary for the fundraiser benefitting the Children's Home Society of Florida. It's an evening of food, music and dancing....with a silent auction. The event starts 6 pm Sunday at the new Fine Arts Hall on Santa Fe College's NW 39th Avenue campus. Proceeds benefit CHS's child protection and adoption progams. Website
The Phillips Center in Gainesville is hosting the Peking Acrobats Sunday. The group of gymnasts, jugglers, contortionists and cyclists will show off their skills on the stage....and in the air. The troupe of performers from China has toured the world and will be here this weekend. Showtime is 7:30 pm Sunday at the Phillips Center. Website
