Happy Friday everyone! Spring is an great time of year across our area. And this weekend will be no exception...with lots of things to keep you busy.
The 43rd annual Santa Fe College Spring Arts Festival is going on this weekend. It's our areas longest running arts festival with more than 100,000 visitors expected again this year. When it comes to art...there's something for everyone...with painting, jewelry, photography, and drawing just to name a few. There's fun for the whole family, with kids activities, two stages of entertainment, and plenty of food. Just head to NE First Street in Gainesville. The City of Alachua is celebrating spring this weekend. The Alachua Spring Festival runs from 11 to 5 on Sunday. Located on Main Street in downtown Alachua, the festival will feature arts and crafts....in addition to plenty of food. There will also be music and plenty of things for the kids to do. Just head north out of Gainesville on highway 441 or I-75. Webpage
CARD, UF's Center for Autism and Related Disabilities, is holding it's "Stomp the Swamp on Autism" fundraiser Saturday. Hosted by UF first lady Chris Machen and UF's Student Government, the event is a fun fundraising and autism awareness event. You have two ways you can "Stomp the Swamp"....either by running the stadium's steps...or by jogging (or walking) the track around the stadium. Registration Saturday begins at 9 am with the event beginning at 10 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville. Webpage
The Levy County Fair is this weekend. Rides and corndogs...sounds good to me. Gates are open until midnight tonight, 10 am to 11 pm Saturday and from noon to 9 pm Sunday. The fairgrounds are located across from the Horseman's Park on south highway 41 in Williston. Webpage
Finally, if you want to experiment with your taste buds, First Baptist Church on highway 441 in High Springs is having a "Beast Feast" Saturday from 1 to 5. Gator, elk, vennison....and more traditional items will be on the grill. The proceeds benefit First Christian Academy.
