Son, brother, friend, and soldier are all characteristics of Lucas Solomon Perez of Gainesville.
I got the chance to meet his family and friends friends today as they laid out the welcome mat for a man they are calling a hero.

Lucas' mother, Theresa Solomon says she knew early on that her son was special, "He was destined to be something that required a uniform. He has a big heart and a big soul."
After spending a year serving in the military in Afghanistan 11c Lucas Solomon family have something to look forward to this Independance Day.
A group of more than 20 showed to meet the Lucas and his friend, Tim, who he fought alongside with in Afghanistan.
Before returning home Lucas spent 2-3 weeks in Germany re-acclimating him in society.
He will soon be stationed in Colorado, from there he hopes to go back to war.
