LAKE CITY - A man remains behind bars in Lake City Thursday morning after police say he tried to pull off a mid-day robbery on Southwest Columbia Street.
Police responded to a caller who said they were holding 44-year-old Philip Christie until law enforcement got there.
When police arrived, they found Christie's truck full of stolen goods.
According to the arrest report, Christie said his neighbor told him there was an abandoned house and that the items inside were up for grabs.
He then changed his story and said he was house hunting.
When police talked to the homeowner she told them that the items came from her shed, and that the home is not for sale.
Christie is being held at the Columbia County Detention Facility.
