Happy Friday everyone! We have a mix of things to do inside and out this weekend.
Outside this week it's felt like a swamp around much of our area....and if you head to Marion County, you can meet the "Swamp Brothers" Saturday. The stars of the cable tv show of the same name will be appearing at Silver Springs. Brothers Stephen and Robbie Keszey run Glades Herp Farm in Bushnell...Florida's largest reptile sanctuary. The duo will be participating in animal shows and doing a meet and greet with visitors at Silver Springs. You can catch them Saturday from 10 am until 5 pm. Website
Also outside this weekend, the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is hosting Suwannee Spirit Kids Music Camp. It's a free three day music camp for kids 5 to 17 years old. Children can learn to play fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin and other instruments. In addition there will be an arts and crafts session, a barbecue chicken dinner Saturday, and Sunday's afternoon concert where kids can display what they've learned. The event wraps up Sunday afternoon at the music park located near Live Oak. Website
If you're into crafts, the folks at Stephen Foster State Park are hosting their 8th Annual Craft Rendezvous Saturday. You will get a chance to participate in a variety of workshops...and see artists demonstrate their skills. You can check out handcrafted jewelry, pottery, and stained glass in addition home cooking skills like jelly and jam making, herb gardening and more. Craft Rendezvous goes from 10 to 4 Saturday at the park on U.S. 41 in White Springs. Website
Indoors in Gainesville Saturday, the Gainesville Community Playhouse is celebrating the end of its 2011-2012 season with the Golden Apple Awards show. You'll be able to see some favorite musical numbers from this season's shows....and get a peek at next season's line-up. The show, and a reception before the show are free. The show starts Saturday evening at 7 at the theatre located at 4039 NW 16th Boulevard in Gainesville. Website
